This portfolio company is a growing service provider in the commercial HVAC sector, with a particular focus on monitoring and servicing boilers for apartment buildings. Operating across three divisions, the service division is the second largest, generating approximately $7M in revenue within a broader business expected to exceed $60M by the end of 2025. The company serves general contractors and property owners through a B2B model. Leadership is hands-on, with the founder actively involved in the business, and the organization remains non-union. While there is no set timeline for an exit, the business has experienced significant growth from $15M to $50M in just two years and continues to scale.

THE ROLE

The Director of Service will be responsible for:

  • Managing, mentoring, and developing the Service division team—both office and field staff.

  • Driving collaboration across departments such as Installations, Controls, Finance, and HR.

  • Growing revenue through service contracts, service jobs, and repair projects.

  • Acting as the primary point of contact for key accounts and enhancing customer satisfaction.

  • Overseeing and approving contract negotiations, proposals, and credit exposure.

  • Recruiting and training new field and office personnel to support growth.

  • Maintaining 24/7 departmental coverage with flexible scheduling, particularly during heating season.

  • Implemented ERP platform (BuildOps) supports streamlined operations.

  • Rapidly growing business with revenue increasing from $15M to $50M in two years.

  • High-performing proprietary technology allows predictive service for client boilers.

KEY CHALLENGES FOR THE ROLE

  • Existing workflows are not being followed consistently.

  • Onboarding data and processes are underdeveloped.

  • Sales representatives are not properly managed.

  • Proposal generation and delivery times are slow and need acceleration.

YOUR BACKGROUND

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Extensive experience in commercial HVAC or boiler systems.

  • Proven operational leadership of service divisions with at least $10M in revenue.

  • Experience managing teams of 30+ individuals.

  • Strong knowledge of KPIs and workflow optimization.

  • Technical expertise in heating and hot water systems.

  • P&L management experience and ability to make data-driven decisions.

  • Proven success in client management and contract negotiations.

  • Project management capabilities.

COMPENSATION PACKAGE

Basic Salary: $180,000–$225,000
Bonus: $20,000
