THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a career-defining opportunity to lead and scale a residential services branch through its next phase of growth.

The mandate is bigger than simply running one branch well. It is about taking an established residential services business and building a much larger adjacent service line using a proven playbook, strong resource backing, and future acquisition support. For the right person, this starts as a General Manager role and can quickly evolve into broader regional or multi-site leadership.

The portfolio company already has an established customer base, a strong local reputation in its core trade, and a clear opportunity to build a second engine of growth. The Private Equity firm is backing an ambitious expansion plan, with additional acquisitions under review that could materially expand the wider platform. That gives the successful candidate the chance to do more than manage a branch. They will help shape the future direction of the market.

This is not a “keep it ticking over” role. It is the opportunity to build, scale, and professionalise a much larger residential services operation over time.

THE COMPANY
A private equity-backed residential services business in St. Louis, Missouri, part of a broader $100M+ platform operating across multiple markets and service categories.

The local business today operates across two complementary residential service areas:

  • Established core home services operation
  • Smaller adjacent service line with clear scope to scale
  • The branch is 100% residential, with no new construction
  • It generates $10M+ in its core operation plus a $1M+ base in the adjacent service line.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Success in this role is not just about holding the business together. It is about learning the portfolio company’s operating system quickly and then using it to drive growth, stronger leadership, and better branch performance.

Over the first 12–24 months, success will look like:

  • Adopting the portfolio company’s sales model, go-to-market approach, and management cadence
  • Building credibility with the team while transitioning into a more commercial leadership model
  • Taking full ownership of branch performance across growth, pricing, and branch economics
  • Scaling the underdeveloped adjacent service line using a proven blueprint
  • Upgrading manager capability, accountability, and culture
  • Improving recruiting, retention, and succession strength
  • Driving stronger conversion, marketing return, and customer monetisation
  • Preparing the business to absorb future acquisitions or nearby market expansion
  • Creating a branch structure that can scale well beyond its current size
  • Establishing the market as a foundation for broader platform growth

Longer term, success means scaling the branch materially beyond its current size, leading across multiple locations or markets, and participating in a significant value creation journey as the wider platform grows.

IDEAL BACKGROUND

This role is best suited to a proven operator who has already led a meaningful residential services business and wants a bigger platform opportunity.
The ideal candidate will likely have:

  • Experience as a General Manager, Regional leader, or senior operator
  • Full P&L responsibility
  • Strong residential HVAC leadership and growth experience
  • Experience in a PE-backed or professionally run performance environment
  • Leadership experience in a business of $10M+ revenue
  • Strong financial, pricing, and reporting discipline
  • A track record of growing a branch, division, or market
  • The ability to lead managers, build culture, and raise standards
  • A reputation for adaptability, coachability, and following through on commitments
  • Direct experience in the core legacy trade is not essential if the person is strong in residential HVAC leadership and can lead the broader branch.

Base salary: $120,000 - $200,000
