THE OPPORTUNITY
An opportunity to build and professionalise the finance function of a rapidly scaling Private Equity-backed residential services platform.
The portfolio company has grown materially through organic expansion and acquisition activity, expanding to 26 branches across 11 states. The business now needs a Corporate Controller who can take ownership of accounting operations, consolidation, systems integration, process standardisation, and operational finance partnership.
This is a newly created role designed to take pressure off the CFO, create stronger financial discipline across the branch network, and move the business toward a faster, cleaner and more accountable close process.
The role will initially focus on a 10+ branch division operating across 6 states, while also overseeing the company-wide financial consolidation process across the full 26-branch platform. Over time, the position is expected to expand into a broader corporate finance leadership seat with clear succession potential.

Residential maintenance and replacement services
Home comfort and related trade services
Electrical, plumbing and adjacent residential services
Home power and related services
The business generated $200M+ in revenue and has scaled rapidly from approximately $30M since 2022.
The platform now includes:
26 branches
11 states
Approximately 800 employees
15+ acquisitions completed
A target of 5-6 acquisitions per year
A plan to reach $400M+ revenue over the next 36 months
Growth has historically been driven by both M&A and organic performance, with acquisition activity now representing the majority of future growth. The current priority is to standardise systems, improve reporting consistency, strengthen financial controls, and create a scalable finance function able to support continued expansion.
The platform is backed by The Private Equity firm, a control investor focused on partnering with founder-led and family-owned businesses across residential, facility and business services markets.

The successful candidate will have the mandate to:
Own the close process and improve speed, quality, and accountability
Lead consolidation across a multi-branch, multi-state platform
Support acquisition onboarding and integration
Drive systems alignment across accounting and operating platforms
Partner directly with executive and branch leadership
Build a finance function capable of supporting the next stage of scale
A clear path toward a future CFO seat
This is a highly visible role with autonomy, direct access to leadership, and the ability to make decisions quickly. It is well-suited to someone who wants to build, influence, challenge, and leave a meaningful mark on a business undergoing rapid growth.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Success in this role means shifting the finance function from reactive reporting to proactive operational leadership.
In the short term, success will look like:
Taking control of divisional finance and stabilising reporting
Reducing CFO dependency in the close process
Improving ownership and accountability across the finance team
Building credibility with branch and general managers
Creating stronger rhythm, structure, and communication around monthly results
Over the first 12-24 months, success will look like:
Moving the close process toward a sub-8-day timeline
Improving accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of financial reporting
Leading monthly operating reviews with clear, actionable insight
Supporting branch managers with labour, job costing, margin and performance visibility
Improving acquisition onboarding and financial hygiene
Driving better system usage and alignment
Upskilling junior finance talent
Building a scalable finance structure that can support continued M&A
Longer term, success means becoming a credible successor to the CFO and helping the portfolio company build a finance function that can support a much larger, multi-site residential services platform.
IDEAL BACKGROUND
Your background will include:
Experience as a Corporate Controller, Divisional Controller, VP Finance or senior accounting leader
At least 7-10 years of progressive accounting or finance experience
Experience in residential services, home services, trades, HVAC or multi-location field service environments
Experience in a business of at least $75M+ revenue
Strong technical accounting knowledge, including GAAP, financial controls and reporting standards
Multi-site, multi-entity or branch-based finance experience
M&A integration experience, including onboarding acquired businesses
Experience leading accounting teams and developing junior finance talent
Experience improving close processes, consolidations, reconciliations and reporting cadence
Exposure to accounting and field service systems, including ERP and service management platforms
Advanced Excel and financial systems capability
The ability to influence operations, challenge branch leaders and drive accountability without creating unnecessary friction
The right person will be technically strong, operationally minded, hands-on, energetic, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced Private Equity-backed environment. They will not be passive. They will be expected to speak up, call out issues, teach operators, and turn financial data into action.
LOCATION
Addison, Texas, USA
This is an onsite role. Relocation support is available for the right candidate. Travel may be considered on a case-by-case basis depending on the individual.
COMPENSATION
Base salary: $150,000 - $215,000
Bonus: 10-15%
Equity: Potential equity participation for the right person
