THE PORTFOLIO COMPANY
This portfolio company is a rapidly growing commercial and industrial HVAC and mechanical services provider. Operating across more than six states, it delivers complex HVAC, mechanical, and plumbing solutions to a wide range of customers, including general contractors, property managers, and government agencies. Currently generating over $90M in revenue, the business has grown both organically and through acquisitions, with ambitions to reach $250M. The platform includes multiple operating entities across the United States and is poised for continued expansion and consolidation over the coming years.

THE PRIVATE EQUITY FIRM
The Private Equity firm, founded in 2015, is headquartered in the Northeastern United States and manages over $200M in assets across multiple funds. Focused on operational growth and acquisition-driven strategies, the firm invests across sectors such as business services, healthcare, industrials, and telecom. With a flexible capital approach and a strong track record of exits delivering 7x gross MOIC and 100% IRR, the firm targets majority investments in founder-led or family-owned businesses. The team brings a highly engaged but non-corporate approach, supporting platforms through 6–10 acquisitions annually.

THE ROLE
The CFO will be responsible for:

  • Serving as a key member of the executive leadership team, partnering with The Private Equity firm on strategic planning and execution.

  • Overseeing financial strategy, forecasting, reporting, and performance management.

  • Leading budgeting, financial planning & analysis, and KPI development across entities.

  • Driving M&A evaluation, due diligence, and post-merger integration.

  • Implementing scalable systems and controls, including ERP rollout and compliance.

  • Managing all aspects of financial operations, including treasury, reporting, and controls.

  • Leading a high-performance finance team and fostering cross-functional collaboration.

  • Preparing and presenting financial results to the board and key stakeholders.

KEY SELLING POINTS OF THE ROLE

  • Lead financial integration and transformation across a high-growth, acquisitive platform.

  • Partner directly with a high-performing and proven private equity sponsor.

  • Play a key role in taking the business from ~$90M to $250M in revenue.

  • Gain exposure to aggressive M&A activity and operational transformation across multiple geographies.

KEY CHALLENGES FOR THE ROLE

  • Navigating the complexities of integrating multiple entities with varying financial systems and controls.

  • Building a robust finance function in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

  • Maintaining accurate and timely reporting across a multi-entity, project-based business model.

  • Driving performance improvements and financial discipline across acquired entities.

YOUR BACKGROUND
Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience.

  • Experience in private equity-backed, multi-entity, acquisitive environments.

  • Strong background in GAAP accounting and project-based financial management.

  • Track record of leading M&A financial integration and ERP implementation.

  • Experience managing banking relationships, debt compliance, and capital allocation.

  • CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.

  • Commercial services, HVAC, or industrials experience highly valued.

  • Familiarity with systems like NetSuite and ServiceTitan is advantageous.

COMPENSATION PACKAGE
Basic Salary: $300,000–$400,000
Bonus: Included in total comp
Equity: Yes – $100K per year
401k: To be confirmed
