THE PORTFOLIO COMPANY

This portfolio company is a fast-growing, PE-backed plastics manufacturing platform specializing in high-volume, low-complexity injection-molded products. Operating a 90,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility in Houston with 30+ injection molding machines, the company serves 80+ active customers across diverse, resilient end-markets including renewable energy, building & construction, HVAC, industrial, and medical.

The business has scaled rapidly—from ~$20M in 2023 to $34.5M in 2025—and is now embarking on a transformational multi-site expansion strategy. Backed by a strong operational leadership team and an industry-leading manufacturing infrastructure, the company is targeting aggressive organic growth as well as 8–10 strategic acquisitions to reach $250M+ revenue and $30M+ EBITDA by 2030.

With industry-leading margins, a strong customer base, an award-winning culture, and a proven ability to win new programs ($10M in new revenue across 12 programs in 2025 alone), the company is positioned to become one of North America’s premier injection molding platforms.

THE PRIVATE EQUITY FIRM

The investor is a founder-friendly, lower middle-market private equity firm headquartered in Michigan. Established in 2010, the firm has built a strong reputation for transforming industrial, manufacturing, value-added distribution, and business services companies.

The firm’s strategy centers on deep operational involvement, disciplined KPI and process management, and professionalizing founder-led businesses. Recognized on Inc.’s Founder-Friendly Investors list (2023 & 2024) and multiple times for Private Equity Firm of the Year, the firm brings a hands-on but collaborative partnership model designed to accelerate value creation.

The firm has a track record of building platforms through both organic growth and disciplined M&A, with multiple realized wins and sustained management-company growth (Inc. 5000 in 2016, 2017, 2024).

THE CULTURE

The culture is people-focused, values-driven, and deeply operational. Team members pride themselves on integrity, craftsmanship, world-class service, and an unwavering commitment to customers and each other.

The leadership environment is hands-on, strategic, and execution-focused, balancing strong operational discipline with innovative thinking and servant leadership. As the company transitions to a multi-site, PE-backed platform, the culture emphasizes accountability, continuous improvement, curiosity, and proactive problem-solving.

VISION

What does success look like in this role?

  • A fully built and professionalized finance function operating at Private Equity standard.
  • Integration of multiple acquisitions into a unified, data-driven platform.
  • Robust, scalable systems, controls, pricing structures, and reporting processes implemented to support rapid expansion.
  • PE-grade forecasting, KPI cadence, and value creation planning embedded across the business.
  • Strong partnership with the CEO and PE team, driving performance and strategic decision-making.
  • A platform positioned to reach $250M revenue / $30M EBITDA and ultimately achieve a 9x exit multiple.

THE ROLE

The CFO will play a mission-critical role as strategic partner to the CEO and Private Equity firm. Responsibilities include:

  • Serving as a key member of the executive leadership team, shaping financial strategy, value creation, and long-term growth plans.
  • Leading all financial operations, including reporting, controls, audit, FP&A, treasury, and compliance.
  • Driving PE reporting cadence, board communication, and performance management.
  • Overseeing all M&A activity: evaluation, financial modeling, diligence, and post-merger integration.
  • Building scalable systems and processes suited for a multi-site, multi-entity platform.
  • Enhancing pricing models, margin management, and financial decision-making.
  • Managing banking relationships, debt compliance, and covenant reporting.
  • Developing and mentoring a high-performing finance team—including a strong Controller viewed as a future CFO successor.
  • Partnering closely with Operations to support lean manufacturing, cost reduction, and data-driven improvements.

KEY SELLING POINTS OF THE ROLE

  • Lead financial transformation for a high-growth, PE-backed industrial platform.
  • Work directly with a proven CEO (ex-Platinum Equity) and an experienced private equity sponsor.
  • Build a finance function capable of supporting 8–10 acquisitions and multi-site scale.
  • Influence a business poised for 7+ years of sustained growth and a large, high-value exit.
  • Join a values-based company recognized as a Best Place to Work (2025).
  • Opportunity to shape the platform’s national expansion strategy across high-growth sectors.

KEY CHALLENGES FOR THE ROLE

  • Transforming a formerly single-site operation into a multi-facility, multi-state platform.
  • Integrating add-on acquisitions with varying systems, cultures, and maturity levels.
  • Elevating finance from founder-led processes to full PE governance standards.
  • Sustaining industry-leading margins in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Building scalable systems and controls while the company grows at pace.
  • Supporting an executive team with limited plastics/injection molding experience in certain areas.

  • Experience with multiple acquisition integrations and post-merger value creation.
  • Strong command of GAAP, internal controls, ERP systems, and data-driven processes.
  • Background supporting businesses at $200M+ revenue scale (ideally manufacturing).
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, cost improvement, and operational partnership.
  • Expertise in pricing, forecasting, KPI development, and decision-support modeling.
  • Ability to operate with urgency, discipline, and hands-on leadership.

Manufacturing experience is required; plastics or injection molding exposure is advantageous but not mandatory.

YOUR CHARACTERISTICS

  • Servant leader with high integrity and accountability
  • Hands-on, proactive, and deeply engaged in the business
  • Highly structured, detail-oriented, and execution-focused
  • Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen
  • Disciplined operator with a PE mindset
