GENERAL MANAGER – PORTFOLIO SEARCH – WINDOWS & DOORS (BUILDING PRODUCTS) – USA

The Appointed Executive

General Manager

Thomas Huish is a high-calibre installation and operations leader with deep experience across residential home services, including windows and doors replacement and installation. With more than a decade in leadership roles, Thomas has managed multi-branch operations, built high-performing field teams, and driven measurable EBITDA improvement through tighter execution, reduced rework, and KPI-led accountability.

Thomas’ background aligned directly with the needs of IllumiNation Window & Door—a premium, custom installation business serving high-end homeowners, architects, and builders across Scottsdale/Phoenix. Following two failed GM hires and a sharp profitability decline, IllumiNation required a hands-on, customer-first operator who could stabilise delivery, restore accountability, and rebuild a repeatable operating system. Described by Raw Selection’s Haleema Hussain as “the leader who will bring urgency back into the business—process-driven, present, and obsessed with delivery quality.”

THE REASON FOR THE SEARCH

Denver Glass Interiors needed to appoint a new GM into IllumiNation Window & Doors.

The business had moved from profitability into a distressed position, with current EBITDA at -$420k (approximately -$900k total EBITDA impact). Revenue was running at ~$530k/month (sub-$7M run-rate), and operational execution was inconsistent—jobs were not completing to 100%, accountability was unclear, and service standards had slipped.

Compounding this, the business had suffered a marketing shock after a website change eliminated much of its organic SEO and showroom traffic. With supply chain lead times of 4–8 weeks and a premium customer base that expects “white-glove” delivery, the business required a GM who could rebuild execution discipline while partnering on a smarter go-to-market engine.

THE PRIVATE EQUITY FIRM

Baymark Partners is the PE sponsor behind Denver Glass Interiors. Baymark invests in middle-market companies across services, healthcare, distribution, manufacturing, and tech-enabled sectors, with a focus on operational discipline and buy-and-build growth.

THE PORTFOLIO COMPANY

IllumiNation Window & Door is a premium custom windows and doors supply and installation business serving the Scottsdale/Phoenix metro area. The company sells good/better/best product tiers and delivers end-to-end project execution from measure through install—serving high-end homeowners, architects, designers, and home builders.

IllumiNation sits within Denver Glass Interiors, a platform of seven businesses, with core glass and specialty building product operations. The IllumiNation mandate was a turnaround in execution and accountability, paired with a reset in customer-first service delivery.

THE SEARCH REQUIREMENTS

The successful GM needed to demonstrate:

  • Proven leadership in high-end residential services / building products / installation-led environments

  • Direct experience in windows and doors (preferred) or adjacent in-home installation services

  • Strong customer-facing leadership with the gravitas to manage premium clientele

  • Full P&L ownership and operational discipline (process, KPIs, cadence)

  • Ability to reduce rework, improve install quality, and drive job completion to 100%

  • Comfort rebuilding accountability and replacing underperformers where needed

  • Strong understanding of lead generation and how to deploy a marketing budget effectively (PPC/TV/SEO)

  • AZROC licence (or willingness to obtain) and strong Arizona market alignment

This role required a GM who could stabilise a team, professionalise the operation, and rebuild the service standard expected of a luxury brand.

THOUGHTS ON THE CANDIDATE

Huish is the ideal candidate for the General Manager role at IllumiNation Window & Door because he brings deep operational leadership, a strong service-driven mindset, and direct alignment with the windows and doors industry, all anchored by strong ties to Arizona.
